Welcome

I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, driven to build strong relationships with clients and their families. My background in psychiatry includes forensics, crisis stabilization, outpatient practices, and consultation-liaison/psychosomatic medicine. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I practiced as a mental health registered nurse for several years. I was humbled, blessed, and touched by the lives of those entrusted to my care. I constantly found myself wanting to do more for my patients but was limited by my scope of practice. My mission and goal to advance accessible, affordable, holistic, quality, patient-centered, and collaborated care, is what led me to pursue and obtain a Masters Degree in Nursing through Georgia College and State University in 2020.

Regardless of where you find yourself on your road to recovery, I am here to help. I am committed to providing compassionate care. I will ensure that your experiences, values, needs, and preferences are incorporated into the planning, co-ordination, and delivery of your care.

I believe you are more than just a collection of your symptoms and understand the importance of the connection of the mind to the body, spirit, and environment. My treatment approach incorporates medications and/or psychotherapy, optional spiritual support, nutritional guidance, and self-help suggestions.

Ultimately, my hope and prayer is that your quality of life is improved to the extent that you can achieve and sustain employment, form meaningful relationships, and live a fulfilling life.

Joy Safo, PMHNP-BC
